In April 1946, a trial modeled on the Nuremberg Trials began in Tokyo, targeting Japanese war criminals. Among them was former Prime Minister Hideki Tojo, considered responsible for the attack on Pearl Harbor. The Emperor of Japan, on the other hand, escaped prosecution, as Washington had imposed that he remain on the throne. The trial was held in the former Ministry of War building and lasted for two and a half years. What was the reason for such a long duration? Who were the judges?
