What is DST? What is Daylight Saving Time?
Daylight saving time (DST), also referred to as daylight savings time or simply daylight time, and summer time, is the practice of advancing clocks (typically by one hour) during warmer months so that darkness falls at a later clock time. The typical implementation of DST is to set clocks forward by one hour in the spring ("spring forward"), and to set clocks back by one hour in autumn ("fall back") to return to standard time. As a result, there is one 23-hour day in late winter or early spring and one 25-hour day in autumn.
How to calculate the DST?
It is not possible to calc the DST, but rather you have to lookup the shifts in a database. The timezone (tz) database is a compilation of information about the world's time zones, primarily intended for use with computer programs. The database is since 2011 maintained by IANA. You can find more infos about the tz database on the IANA website.
